Opening and Getting Started in NetSupport:

1. Welcome to the NetSupport tutorial. Lets get started. From your desktop, start by opening the Start menu.
   
   
   
2. On the Start menu, choose All Programs and then locate the NetSupport folder. Inside this folder, locate and left click on the 'NetSupport Control' option.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
3. NetSupport should open momentarily and the "Welcome to NetSupport" window may also appear . In this welcome window, click the Start button to continue. You are now at the main NetSupport menu.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   

Finding/Searching for Clients

1. Ok, now that we're in NetSupport, lets get started by finding and connecting to our desired clients. For the purposes of this tutorial, we'll act as though we are at the teaching podium in Tuttleman room 213, and we wan to connect to one or more of the computers in that classroom.
   
   First we have to find the computers we want to connect to. To do this, we'll start by clicking the browse button on the top horizontal NetSupport menu.
   
   
   
2. You now should be looking at the 'Browse Network' window. In the text field, you'll want to enter either the full, or some of the abbreviation for the computers you are looking for. In our classrooms, all computers should be labeled with the correct abbreviation for their location, followed by a number to designate the specific computer.
   
   For this tutorial, we'll enter 'TUTCOMP' because by looking at all the computer in this particular classroom (Tuttleman 213) we can see that they all start with the name 'TUTCOMP', followed by a number. Leaving the bottom two checkboxes unchecked, hit the OK button. NetSupport will then begin searching for networked computers with names including the terms you specified and will then display all computers found containing that term.
   
   Also, you can look for a specific user logged into a computer by opening the view menu at the top of the screen, and then choosing 'Details' as your view type. This will display the users connect to individual computers.
   
   If you're not sure what the names of the computers are in your room, you can always enter a more general search term. By only entering 'TUT' for example, you would get a listing of all the computer in the Tuttleman building. This can help you narrow down your search, but entering a more specific term will enable you to minimize finding unwanted computers.
   
   *Note - Only computer that are powered on will appear in your results! If you can't find a specific computer that you know should be there, it may not be turned on!*

Connecting to an Individual Client Computer

1. By now you should be looking at a list of the computers you would like to connect to. But maybe you only want to connect to one specific computer. To do this, let's start by left clicking and selecting the desired computer from the list. We'll use 'TUTCOMP06' for this tutorial.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
2. Notice that all the all the computer in your list have gray icons. Now with the desired computer highlight, click the 'Connect' button from the NetSupport menu. In the window that appears, enter your username and password and click the OK button.
   *(Make sure the "Try last username before displaying login prompt" checkbox is checked on)*
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
3. A new window should then appear showing the screen of the computer you just connected to. Also notice that in you list of searched computers, the icon for the now connected computer has 'lit up' indicating that you are connected.

Connecting to Multiple Client Computers

1. The process of connecting to multiple computers at once is very similar to connecting to a specific computer.
   
   Once you've found the desired computers, start by selecting all of their icons. You can do this by left clicking your mouse somewhere in your window and while holding down the left mouse button, drag a selection around the computers you want to connect to. If you cannot select all of them at once, the simply select as many as you can by dragging, then while holding the Ctrl (Control) and Shift buttons on your keyboard down, left click on the remaining computers.
   
   
   
   
2. Once all the desired computers are selected, click the 'Connect' button. In the window that appears, enter your username and password and click the OK button. You then see NetSupport begin connecting to the selected clients.

3. You should now see that the previously gray icons for the selected computer should now be lit up, indicating that you are connected.
